Refined Rooms is owned and operated by Kim Dingwall, a life-long decorating hobbyist, creative artist and passionate organizer. She fondly recalls learning to sew, cook and about the history of furnishings during “home economics” class in school (back in the day when they taught such things!)  At an early age, Kim was working in an Ottawa home builder's office where her interest was piqued by studying home floor plans and the advertising and marketing of those homes. In addition, she was very fortunate to have other influences on her decorating and creative interests from her late grandmother, late aunt, and two sisters, all skilled at creating beautiful things and love of the home. Kim has hands-on decorating, space planning and customer service experience from employment within the home furnishings industry.

Kim is a certified stager, ISRP (International Staging and Redesign Professional) from QC Design School. Kim was the Vice President, Membership of the Ottawa Chapter of the Real Estate Staging Association from 2010 to 2016.  In 2013 Kim started Get ReFurnished Incorporated, a furnishing rental business supporting rental services for real estate agents, home stagers and home sellers in the Ottawa area. Recently Kim became a co-founder and Vice Chair of the Canadian Association of Property Stylists (CAPS).

Kim's philosophy is to reuse or repurpose existing materials and furnishings for projects. Another approach has been to do it yourself. With limited budgets for projects, it has always been very satisfying for Kim to research how to do it and then do it! Sharing these practical approaches with other home owners and sellers is a sure way to save money. She believes everyone deserves to be surrounded by beauty, comfort and cleanliness and that her clients' homes should reflect that ideal.

Considered a creative solutions-oriented person, Kim's passion for finding a way to have a beautiful home, very functional and a proper place for everything are fed through each project she works on.

With over 30 years marketing and communications experience in the corporate and non-profit fields, Kim provides Refined Rooms' clientele with a strong ability to focus on the objective of each project. Her 'big picture' thinking is complemented with an incredible attention to detail. Project management skills, as well as extensive experience with supplier and customer relations, are pivotal to success in the home staging and decorating businesses.

Kim lives in rural Ottawa with her husband and three dogs.
