HomeRESA Cares Shell Brodnax

Shell Brodnax, CEO Real Estate Staging Association

What product or service does your company offer?

I oversee the day-to-day operations of the trade association for home stagers called the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA). I also develop new programs and services for the members.

Where are you located?

I live in Valley Springs, California. Valley Springs is approximately 60 miles southeast of Sacramento, headed up into the Sierra Foothills.

Tell us about your family life?

I have an amazing husband Chris Norton. I have a 24 year old son, Sean, who has two children, Evie and Sam. I also have three stepchildren; Noelle 21, Katelyn 19 and Chance 14. We enjoy our quite country living with great friends.  Every weekend, we have BBQs, pool parties and sports on TV.

What do you do in your spare time?

Horses! In April, 2013, I decided I wanted to learn how to ride a horse. It did not come easy as learning, at the age of 44, proved more difficult than I imagined. However, I have a ton of heart, desire, determination and commitment and have managed through the challenges. I recently purchased a horse and named him Luke.  He is a 7-year old bay quarter horse and he is absolutely amazing. We compete in cowboy challenges. Cowboy challenges are obstacle courses you navigate through and are judged in points, as well as time. I also compete in chili cook-offs. In the past four years, I managed to win 3rd place, and this year, I’m proud to say that I took 1st place.

Why did you get involved with Heather’s Heroes?

Great question. I am a huge advocate for volunteerism. Over the years, I have volunteered for - Senior Dog Rescue, German Shepherd Rescue, Fundraising for the Women's Council of REALTORS, Music Festivals, that support music in schools, and many others.

As the CEO of RESA, I have the opportunity to speak with many homeowners. When Heather contacted RESA, she was simply asking for a name of a home stager in her area.  Heather’s struggles came up in normal conversation and I instantly knew we crossed paths for a bigger purpose than a simple referral. I believe in the law of attraction and when I notice things that are put in my path - I take action. There was no question in my mind of what I needed to do. Something just took over. It was like every fiber in my body was screaming at me to get involved. It happened in a matter of moments and it was overwhelming. I could not have ignored it if I tried.

I am just an average every-day person. The universe brought Heather to me. I have the ability, and some resources to help. It's that simple. Some people have resources to provide a lot of help; some can provide a little bit of help. When we put it all together, we provide all the help that is needed.
