Lori Murphy Element One Home Staging & Redesign

What product or service does your company offer?

Home Staging: As a certified professional stager I have knowledge of the real estate market, trends in home renovations, and creative design principles, and I help homeowners and Realtors attract the widest range of potential buyers in order to sell a home quickly and for the greatest amount of money.

Redesign: I also help clients who aren’t selling avoid costly mistakes when choosing paint, flooring, accessories, art, and furniture that reflects a home and lifestyle to fit their family needs.

Where are you located?

Columbus, Ohio

What do you do in your spare time?

Inspired by Lara Spencer’s show I Break for Yard Sales on HGTV, I shop auctions and craigslist for pieces that need a little work. Refinishing, reupholstering, repurposing—you name it, I’ll try it!  I have quite the collection of spray paint and fabric.  And of course my own house is always a work in progress.

When we need a quick getaway, we head to Lake Erie to spend a night or two on our boat and for longer periods of relaxation my favorite destination is Mexico.

Tell us about your family life?

I live in Dublin, Ohio with my significant other, Mike and a very fat cat.  Mike and I have been together for over eight years.  He has two grown children; Ashley is in Colorado, and Michael is in Chicago.  I also have two grown children; my daughter, Devoni, is a high school English teacher in Johnstown, and  my son, Elias, is serving in the United States Coast Guard and is stationed in Maine with his wife Ariel, who is a nurse, and their son.  I have only one grandson, but I wouldn’t be surprised to hear another grandchild is on the way in the near future.

Why did you get involved with Heather’s Heroes?

When Shell Brodnax called and told me Heather’s situation, there was no question.  Shell called me on a Thursday and by Friday I was on my way to Circleville to meet with Heather, tour her home, take pictures and develop an action plan.  I spent many years as a single mother and probably made some bad financial decisions because I felt I had no other choice.  If I can help Heather have a choice to make a better financial decision, why not?   I have the ability, talent, and passion to help, and I am a firm believer in paying it forward and giving back.

What makes you an average every day person?

My hopes and fears.  Like everyone else, I hope for stability, health, the love of family, and the respect of friends and I fear not having any one of these.
