Frequently Asked Questions about home staging

Quick answers for homeowners, agents, and professional stagers—plus links to the right RESA® resources.

What is home staging and how does it help homes sell?

Home staging prepares a property for market using design, editing, and merchandising so buyers can picture themselves living there. Staged homes typically show better online, attract more showings, and reduce time on market—often with stronger offers thanks to perceived value.

How does RESA® teach real estate agents about the importance of staging?

RESA® developed the Staging to Sell, What Every Agent Should Know class in 2010 designed to educate real estate agents on how to effectively incorporate home staging into their business. It teaches agents how staging benefits their clients by reducing liability, improving marketing, and increasing the likelihood of stronger offers, while also providing scripts, staging tips, and knowledge of industry standards to help them collaborate with stagers and confidently advise their sellers.

We've strategically invited RESA-PRO and RESA Accredited Staging Businesses to apply to teach the course, after going through our training they become RESA Approved Instructors.

This 3 hour course is designed to meet state and association requirements and is updated regularly. All agents who take the course earn the RESA-CSA designation and in many states it is also accepted for CE credits.

As of July 2025 RESA® Approved Instructors have educated over 11,000 agents educated.
