Biography
A veteran of the home staging industry, Kristie Barnett (The Decorologist) began staging homes in 2003. She is the founder and sole instructor of the RESA-accredited Expert Psychological Stager™ training course, and has trained and certified hundreds of home stagers from across the United States. in her and produces educational videos for both design professionals and decorating enthusiasts.
Blogging since 2009 as The Decorologist, Kristie has written over 1,200 design articles and authored a best-selling book for home staging pros, Psychological Staging – The Home Staging Secrets of The Decorologist. She has won numerous national and local awards for staging, design, and color work, including RESA's 2017 Redesigner of the Year, 2016 Most Innovative Product of the Year, 2013 Occupied Staging of the Year, and multiple Top 10 awards for staging and redesign. She was named among the Most Influential in Real Estate Staging in 2019 and 2018.
Kristie has been a featured writer for The Tennessean, Everyday Home magazine, and Houzz.com. Her work and advice have been published in Southern Living, This Old House, Romantic Homes, Better Homes & Gardens, Washington Post, Huffington Post, USA Weekend, ABC News, Fox News, HGTV.com, Realtor.com, Goodhousekeeping.com, etc.
Kristie is currently a brand ambassador for SmallWall® paint sample boards. She worked for two years as a color expert/brand ambassador for LP SmartSide, creating content for their website and promotional materials, exterior color palettes for their siding/trim products, and a video series for homeowners and remodelers. Barnett has also collaborated with other national brands including HomeGoods, Kirkland’s, Lowes, CREE, and Carpet One.
